One thing I can't understand, and it seems as though it's been happening throughout my time with painting minis and playing war games; how is it that I can become better at painting without having any practise?

Every time I take a break from the hobby my painting is better when I return to it. There's absolutely no reason why this should be the case but for some reason it is! I'm not saying that I suddenly became the best painter ever, just that I am better than I was before with nothing in the middle to suggest why.

I wonder, has this happened to other people before?
